You are many to be interested to learn how to setup a solar bike using our repairable batteries which makes sense because the Infinite is the ideal candidate for transportation, ruggedness, repairability and sepcific configuration needed for big solar bike trips.

We already sponsored two solar bikers for the French solar trip:

- in 2023 we [sponsored Adrien for the Sun Trip Alpes](https://wiki.lafabriquedesmobilites.fr/wiki/V%25C3%25A9loce)

-
- in 2025 we [sponsored Alex for Suntrip Auvergne](https://www.polarsteps.com/alexandrezavisic/18656046-the-suntrip-auvergne)

- who used an early version of the Infinite Battery

- in 2026 we shall sponsor a [France-Senegal trip](https://youtu.be/sR6XaMM79so?si=OtbcdSihv6Xd158P).

I think it could be great to exchange on:

- what setup did you used (motor controller etc) don’t hesitate to publish ressources)
- what should be known about the Infinite battery
- what features should be added to make Infinite Battery even better for this new emerging transportation mode.

Has anyone tested if charging during riding (which typically happens on a solar bike) works with a Bosch system?

you should speak in english on this forum…

Also please send you message to [velo-solaire.com](https://velo-solaire.com/conception-et-construction/) with a description of the project. I’m quite sure 1 battery per bike won’t be enough.

Great to see some talks start about solar bike project, thought I’d share some trike projects that I want to get started with, their schematics and bill of materials are available online.

1. Build a smaller simpler designed trike based on the [XYZ One seater](http://www.n55.dk/MANUALS/SPACEFRAMEVEHICLES/DIY.pdf) trike.
This is to get used to the mechanical work of building a bike from aluminium struts.

2. If that works well, then I’ll see if I can add a solar panel on it and have it as a test platform.

3. If it works as expected and I dare to, the dream is to build a [Vhelio trike](https://communaute.vhelio.org/d/83-documentation-du-vheliotech-version-100-mai-2023) with a solar roof from the get go. The documentation is in French for this one, so you might need to translate it.

Both of these bikes are prime time recipients of the infinity battery and it’s uses.

I was not allowed to add more than one picture in the first post, but this is the Vhelio trike.

Why not design a bike properly around a solar panel?

All these bricolage builds with the solar rooftop seems a bit awkward with the high center of gravitty?

I think there is big potential for better integration, also making the solar panels more suitable for everyday riding.

Oh I fully agree, I’m not that kind of engineer tho, so I’m going for things that will ease me into it, I have napkin designs based around the solar panel instead of just using it as a roof, but sides back and front with material between to give full weather protection, inspired by other projects

I’m more interested in the opposite: A foldable solar panel at 100 or perhaps up to 200 watts, coupled with a converter and not much more. Perhaps sometimes folded over a kid trailer as a range extender, but mostly to recharge the batteries while I’m camping, fishing and so on. I like remote areas without electricity, and being able to get there and back without fear of depleting my batteries could help.

This is my main goal for the Infinite batteries I’m purchasing. Solar gets cheaper lighter and more powerful each passing year and panels pare very well with ebikes. Ive built a few solar bikes although nothing super ground braking. I hope my latest build will run off of the new cargo batteries and ill be able to transition them into a longer range solar touring vehicle in the next few years. Does anyone know of any issues that could arise from direct solar charging an infinite battery from one of these mppt converters?
