I am a retired fire officer injured on duty with Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service. I am registered as disabled but managed to keep cycling by buying an Ebike. After many a fall I mastered starting and stopping with the aid of the motor and gaining more strength and confidence I now try to ride with as little assistance as possible. It isn’t always possible and I still have the occasional fall when stopping but I fitted a dropper seat post recently which allows me to drop the saddle hight for stopping and moving off. It has been a bit of a revelation and I wish I had thought of it years ago.
