Battery Values for Grin × Gouach Bike builds

Hi,

While there could be plenty different setups could we collect meaningful values for a Grin Phase runner or Baserunner controller here?

36V Gouach Battery

_Battery Limits_

Max Battery Current

Max Regen Battery Current

Max Regen Voltage Start

“ End

Low Voltage Cutoff Start

“ End

I’m specially unsure about the max Regen Current & Voltage since I got the OCC Error 4 :red_circle::white_circle::blue_circle::white_circle:

Thats the values I have set right now, but of course I want to maximise power for this Bullitt #cargobike

Btw, @Alex what box did you use for the cycle analyst on the bullitt and which clamps for the battery pack?

Also interested in this. I am setting up a Baserunner with the 48v and will have to go through the same

I was planning on making a 3d printed enclosure to attach on the back of the box too. Can share once I get to it.

@Alex you’ve mentioned you use Cycle Analyst and a Baserunner, can you suggest what to use here for 36v and 48v batteries? Really appreciate it. :man_bowing:t2:

hello everyone, sorry for the late reply I’m still on vacations. Here is my baserunner configuration file:

bullitt_baserunner_config.xml (51.8 KB)

I don’t know if that will suit your needs but I find it good for my setup (using a classical bafang motor in the rear hub) and switch to be toggle between the 3 modes.

Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your vacation!

I’m still waiting for a few parts to put all together. I am setting up a Bafang g311 front hub with a 48v battery, also in a Bullitt. I’m new to this, so I’ll start from your config and try go from there. Cheers

So tonight I tested a steep uphill nearby on the way home and the battery (still almost full) performed nicely until suddenly I found myself in total darkness :grimacing: after less than 100m of altitude.

The less were showing something like :red_circle::yellow_circle:

After a moment it turned on again and I tried more and after maybe 100m altitude I got the same error again and opened the app quick enough, it showed:

ERR(6144) Fet ….

Clicking on the error field in the app doesn’t do much yet.

What exactly causes that error?

What can we do to prevent this? The current at the time was maybe around 20A, 36..39V, Power 200..1000W. … using the Baserunner described before.

Another App Error: on my android it overlaps the status bar.

if you put your phone horizontally you should see that the error is FET overtemperature. This happens because you pulled too much current for too long and the temperature of the BMS rose over 80°C .

If you want to avoid this you should set the maximum current output of your controler to something more reasonable like 20A.

the bms can withhold burst of high current like 40A (depending on your cells) but it gets too hots when these get too frequent or too long.
