after building the battery and riding and riding successfully for 100km, i had several issues with the BMS and replaced it with a new one. After reassembly, it worked again for a while but then the cells became imbalanced (without me realizing), and eventually it seems i blew a fuse:
so i found the faulty fuse and replaced it, and charged all the cells (Panasonic BD) individually, and now i can see all voltages are balanced:
but the BMS only starts if i plug in a micro USB to power it, and you will notice two abnormalities in the reported data: the voltage is reading at 62+V (48V pack), same as when the fuse was blown, and the BMS temperature is reading very high at 66+C. i observe no smell nor do any components on the BMS appear to be heating to the touch, and this temperature does not lower after leaving the pack off for hours.
is this temperature accurate? is the voltage? are either related to why the BMS will not start without external power?
