Temperature problem

Hello everyone,
it looks like we have a temperature problem.
Today I took my first proper ride with the new battery (using the Bosch adapter).
When I attached the battery to the bike this morning and rode to work (about 6 km), everything worked as it should. Afterwards, the bike stood outside all day (in the cold – around 9°C).
When I wanted to ride home in the evening, I got an unpleasant surprise – the (previously full) battery showed only one green LED, and the Bosch Intuvia display was flashing the battery icon. The result was that the battery didn’t work, and I had to ride home without motor assistance – I was really annoyed.
Right there on the spot, I checked the app to see if I could find any clues. The battery should have been full (around 40V was displayed), but no charge level was shown.
When I got home, I took the battery inside to warm it up a bit. After 3 hours came the big surprise: the battery suddenly showed 82% again (without me charging it). In the app, the cells now also showed a temperature of 17°C.
Apparently, the system is very sensitive to cold temperatures. I’ve already written an email to Alex and hope they’ll quickly start working on a software fix and release a new firmware.

I just wanted to let you know so you don’t suddenly find yourself in the same situation – having to ride home without motor assistance.

Best regards,
Alex.

Strange this but I have always been aware that battery performance is reduced in cold weather for which I have a solution that I haved used with great success. I purchased a Neoprene cover and between that and the battery I placed a TV USB vivarium heat mat. This is powered by USB power pack in a weather protection cover you can either velcro to the neoprene cover or put inside a small crossbar bag. My 8000mAh powerpack is good for two hours on high heat and of course you can always carry a spare. I was in touch with Alex at Infinite today over this very same subject. I have fitted a Bosch neoprene cover on mine. It’s a bit of a stretch but it can be done.

My old Bosch battery and below it my new Infinite battery in a Bosch neoprene cover trimmed to see the display.
