How to deal with a broken antenna connector

Hello,

the Ipex connector (coming out of the bottom discharge block) can be damaged if it is pulled hard, which can happen if you open the casing from the bottom (the casing should be opened from the front).

if you have the material and good eyes you can always solder it back on the cable but if not there are two options:

  • reorder a bottom cover (expensive)
  • order an antenna from amazon and place it inside the cover (the aluminum act likes a faraday cage)

Here is reference used by a customer.

I’m the customer in question and I’ve overbought so have plenty to spare and they work very well indeed. If anyone just wants one please feel free to message me. Postage cost only or free pick up and a cup of tea/coffee too. Be careful about ordering any old IPEX4 antenna as the battery requires one with quite a deep skirt and my first was purchase £3.56 for ONE Inc postage just would not click in. I.e this one is the first one I tried to no avail and not only that it also broke very quickly. The Amazon ones are far sturdier.

REMEMBER…..this is the shallow skirt type you need to avoid.

Here is Amazon another link which is cheaper but less of them.

The Bluetooth works fine with just the antenna lead but it is possible to fit an aerial if you are wanting further range. It is possible to monitor whilst riding but don’t let it distract you. If I had actually monitored on my first ride I would have realised straight away I had an arcing issue so I suppose it is handy in the early stages. With that in mind here is a link to a complete Bluetooth IPEX 4 2.4gHz antenna should you wish to go down that route. If you source your own ensure it is IPEX 4 not the older and larger IPEX/IPEX 1.
