You are many to be interested to learn how to setup a solar bike using our repairable batteries which makes sense because the Infinite is the ideal candidate for transportation, ruggedness, repairability and sepcific configuration needed for big solar bike trips.
We already sponsored two solar bikers for the French solar trip:
Salut la commu de vélo solaire !
On part de France pour le Sénégal avec les fameuses batteries.
Nos vélos sont équipés d’une batterie 48 V et d’un moteur pédalier Bafang 500 W.
Côté panneau, on utilise un Heliup Stykon 290 Wc.
On est preneurs de retours d’expérience, contacts ou astuces techniques pour finaliser le montage !
Great to see some talks start about solar bike project, thought I’d share some trike projects that I want to get started with, their schematics and bill of materials are available online.
Build a smaller simpler designed trike based on the XYZ One seater trike.
This is to get used to the mechanical work of building a bike from aluminium struts.
If that works well, then I’ll see if I can add a solar panel on it and have it as a test platform.
If it works as expected and I dare to, the dream is to build a Vhelio trike with a solar roof from the get go. The documentation is in French for this one, so you might need to translate it.
Both of these bikes are prime time recipients of the infinity battery and it’s uses.
Oh I fully agree, I’m not that kind of engineer tho, so I’m going for things that will ease me into it, I have napkin designs based around the solar panel instead of just using it as a roof, but sides back and front with material between to give full weather protection, inspired by other projects
I’m more interested in the opposite: A foldable solar panel at 100 or perhaps up to 200 watts, coupled with a converter and not much more. Perhaps sometimes folded over a kid trailer as a range extender, but mostly to recharge the batteries while I’m camping, fishing and so on. I like remote areas without electricity, and being able to get there and back without fear of depleting my batteries could help.
