Green LEDs Always on. Battery doesn't go to sleep, can not be switched off with Bosch controller

Hi Infinities,

I am happy, I got my Bosch Base Plate and Fixture. But now (like with the original Baseplate, that’s why I disassembled the battery when I was waiting for the Bosch adapter) the BMS is always on. LEDs shine in bright green all the time. Sometimes it resets itself for a few seconds, but then it is still on for minutes, hours, for infinity.

Also if I put the battery in my bike, the system starts up immediately, even without the Bosch bike-computer attached, the lights of my pedelec come on. And if I turn off my bike computer, the power stays on.

I tried resetting the BMS with the button. Even with the 10 second reset. I even tried changing from Bosch-mode to custom and back.

Is there a proper way to do a factory reset? I thought about trying that before saying it has to be a hardware problem, but didn’t find anything in that direction on here.

The firmware version is 1.12.5-0-g….

What can I do?

Thank you!

I had the same symptom, that the battery lights are full green for some time. Makes a good night-light, but actually if its like that, I’d prefer to set custom colors

Okay, now it’s not even giving the power to my bike anymore. I arrived late to my shift in the hospital today because of that (I tested it yesterday evening and it worked at least as described in my original post).

Aaaaand, it’s dead …

Blue blinking light is all I get now. And after a while, that stops too and I can’t see it doing anything anymore.

@Alex I guess I need a new board. Mine is broken from the beginning.

I could get it back to do something at least: if I power the board directly via micro USB, it starts up. I can connect to the battery with the app. But if I disconnect the micro USB power, after a few seconds the battery LEDs go off and the blue board led blinks. A short high intensity blink, followed by a 1 second long shining with a bit lower intensity. After that a one second break before the next blink. So every two seconds, ca.

I mean it’s quite fun trying to troubleshoot it and to find out what could be wrong, but actually I would prefer a working battery over that

Hello laryngoscope,

It seems that the fuse of the electronic power supply is dead on your BMS. Please send me a mail so I can ship you a replacement part.

I have the same problem. Newly assembled Battery, went from Firmware 0.1.sth. to v1.12.5-0-g574a54f-rs.

The green LED’s are always on. The battery itself should work, but I can’t confirm, cause I still wait for the Bosch-Adapter on the battery, so that I can use it without changing my bike.

Is there anything I can do?

My Bosch system is working perfectly on v.1.7 and I never received the v1.12 update that was scheduled for us all but I did inform Alex mine is perfect on 1.7 so maybe that may be part of the issue. If you message him he might be able to flash v1.7 IF it doesn’t work when your Bosch adapter arrives. BTW you don’t need the new top fitting as it works with the old one once the frame has been modified.

Hi @Alex

Could you flash/downgrade my Battery to 1.7?

My BMS ID is 6M6KJacFBcLOs7n34LkI

Best regards

Hi everyone,

Following up on this thread with some debugging steps that may help identify the root cause of the “green LEDs always on / battery doesn’t go to sleep” issue.

Key diagnostic question: does the battery go to sleep when it’s OFF the bike?

This is the most important thing to check first:

If the battery sleeps fine off the bike but not on the bike:
The bike is likely sending continuous CAN bus messages that keep waking the battery up. This is a known behaviour with some Bosch controllers — the battery wakes up on any CAN activity.

If the battery stays on even off the bike:
Something internal is waking it up. Possible causes:

  1. Accelerometer fault — the battery wakes up on movement/vibration. If it stays on even completely still, the accelerometer may be stuck.
  2. Case open detector — if this sensor is triggered, the battery stays awake.
  3. Software bug — especially after a firmware update (v1.12.x has had some issues with this).

What Alex needs to diagnose remotely:

  • Share your BMS ID (visible in the MyGouach app)
  • Make sure the battery is connected to WiFi so Alex can pull logs

Once connected, Alex can check telemetry and potentially push a fix or a downgrade remotely.

Okay Thanks. I received a new BMS. Still, it does not turn off. Still green all the time. Maybe the case open sensor is active. Where is it? Maybe I fitted in something wrong.
