LED are off during the assembly

Just finished assembling my Gouach battery.

The assembly instructions for the battery were clear however at one point I was a bit puzzled as to why the LEDs on the BMS suddenly turned off. On another page the meaning of the various LEDs is explained and it was clarified that this is normal behavior when the unit enters sleep mode. It might be worth adding this to the assembly guide as well to prevent confusion.

Yes when you assemble the battery since it is not compressed, the BMS can think that some cells are disconnected and it might either:

  • trigger a Permanent Failure (which will result in flashing pink LEDs) => to solve this long press (4s) on the black button behind the LEDs

  • enter in deep sleep (UVLO mode) => to solve this plug the charger. Of course do this when the pack is connected to the bottom part with connectors.

It doesn’t work when I plug in my Bosch charger to the Bosch adapted board. In fact absolutely nothing happens and there is no power to any of the leads. Faulty board??

Sorted I’m delighted to say. It hasn’t been as easy as I would have liked and even though it is charging and communicating with the software I still need to replace the Bluetooth antenna as the new one I got today from the hobby shop isn’t deep enough the click in to the connector so there is no point screwing the case together yet. Communication works OK with the phone right next to the battery though without the antenna. I need to know if my firmware requires updating as all the comments seem to indicate I do. Mine isn’t updating automatically as it says it should despite a stable internet connection. I have sent Alex all the required info to see what he can do. The BMS did it’s job during the course of the evening with the variance now down to 0.018v and dropping and the red OV warning has gone. More antenna arriving tomorrow from Amazon…10 for £9 so I’ll get a few goes at it..:rofl:. Once I’ve assembled it fully I’ll report back. I’m feeling far more positive about it. Once they have those niggles with the bottom Bosch adapter sorted assembly for new buyers should be a breeze.
